a small break

munch!  i love munch. 

working on this site the past few years has been a lot of fun for me, but lately i am a bit preoccupied with other things in my life.   i'm not really putting the time or effort into this endeavor that i think it needs, and to be honest, i'm not sure if i want to keep doing it.  i'm going to take some time to make some changes to the site, decide where i want it to go, what i'd like to do, that sort of thing.  i'd like to thank everyone who bought something from me, said something nice, or gave me some feedback. i think i just need to take a break and re-group.  i've taken down the shop, although you can probably still find some stuff over at 20 Twenty.  i don't expect to be back until the end of the summer, so until then make sure you check out other great crafters, make some fun stuff yourself and wear your sunscreen.  see you later! 

just a small update

it has come to my attention that i have been seriously lax when it comes to the updates.  i've been working on the law & order series, but the problem with working on anything law & order is the question of "who?"  there are a million different characters, all of them worthy of their own towel.  i am but one girl with only two hands, so narrowing it down and getting the transfers ready has been a task. 

at the moment none of them are for sale.  i'd like to get a few more of them done before putting them in the store.  they take a bit more time to make, but i'm aiming at having at least one small set up by june.   next up: stabler.  because really, you can't have benson without stabler.   or munch, or tutuola...  speaking of munch, i really want to do him too, but damn that man has a lot of wrinkles.  my fingers hurt just thinking about it!

if you have any character you would really like to see, please email me.   maybe you can help me narrow the field down.  although sometimes i like to think about doing them all; it's ambitious, sure, but maybe it can be done. 

why is american idol on all the time?

i mean, because it's on constantly and i never know when i'm always freaking out and rushing to change the chanel.  it's a cruel joke fox is playing on me.

i do love television, though.  i made another lenny towel, and am hoping to work on a law & order series of tea towels.  the first lenny i made right after jerry orbach died, and it took forever because i was sort of sad about the whole thing.  this one was easier to work on.   next up,  detective logan.  or tutuola.  maybe benson or stabler...so many choices!  i could work on this series forever. 

i'm selling most of my stuff over at 20 Twenty right now, so you should head over there.  joel just moved into a new space in ballard, and i hear it's lovely.   let me know if you go by there, i'm super curious about it.  it makes me miss seattle even more to not be able to just pop over and check it out.   

bibs of fun

i've been working four days a week at this new job i have.  the job is lousy, and when i say "lousy" i mean "soul-crushingly boring."  the good news is i have this extra day to work, and i've been making myself work.   plus, this type of work does not make me want to poke my own eyes out!  hopefully it won't make you want to, either.

babies and toddlers are wonderful.  i love them, really i do.  some people think my little jokes about them mean i don't like them, but those people are wrong.

people who actually know real-life, wonderful toddlers and babies know that they can be a bit demanding.  which is totally reasonable seeing as they can't really talk to you and say things like, "i'm feeling a bit hungry, may i have a snack?"  so sometimes they act like teensy dictators.  and you and i love them for it.

also, i miss the mix tape.  i know it's not the same as a mix cd, which are easy to make and fun as well, but remember making a mix tape?  you had to get everything together before you started, you had to think it through, and you had to be right there at the end of the song to make sure you cut it off on time.  plus, mix tapes are unlike cds in that you have to listen to the whole damn thing.  no skipping around.  theme was important in a mix tape.  i'm not knocking the mix cd, because i love them too, but i liked the thoughtfulness and thoroughness of mix tapes.  which is why i made this bib.  that's an awful long explanation, isn't it?

it's a girl!

my niece is finally here!  she took her sweet time, but the entire family is pretty pleased she finally showed up.  i haven't seen her yet, but i'm told she is adorable and i did get to hear her healthy lungs over the phone.  either way, i'm smitten.

i've made a few changes to the site, mainly adding a custom order section.  there you can pick out the design you like, the color, and the amount.  it might take up to two weeks for me to get your order made and in the mail, but if you don't mind a bit of a wait i'm more than happy to make it exactly the way you want it.   i may also make up some note card sets from the cards i've had made from my photos.  i have them made all the time to start with, and if i sold a few then i could have lots more made, using lots of different photos! 

it's almost the end of the first month of the year!  so far i like 2006, but for superstition's sake, let's knock on wood. 

this has nothing to do with the actual "work" i do

my sister's going to have her baby any second now.   not to get too technical or anything, but baby is ready.  any day i'm going to get to meet the newest member of the family!  i can't tell you how distracted this makes me.   i know this might sound weird, but i wonder what she looks like.  will she be super-blonde like her folks?  will she get my family's general brown-ness?  what if she's a redhead (that would R-U-L-E)?  i hope she's nice.  i hope she likes me. 

in seattle news, i've sent a whole slew of bibs over to 20 Twenty in ballard (5009 20th Ave NW Seattle,  mapquest it!).  even if you don't buy any of my stuff, you'll find lots of amazing treats for yourself.  joel has a wide selection of vintage men's and women's clothes, and tons of amazing accessories from local (and now not-so-local) artists.  speaking of art, there's always great stuff on the walls too.  so go!  now!  i'll wait.

regardless of what you celebrate, i hope you and your loved ones have a happy happy holiday.  me, i'm going to make latkes and hang around the house watching movies.  i'm pretty excited. 

i also want to thank you all for your support during 2005, and let you know that i have big plans for 2006.  maybe some more consignment work, so you can find my stuff in stores, lots more designs involving a certain deep-see creature i have a crush on, and more baby stuff.  my nephews are getting bigger and bigger and i'm getting a new niece this year!  you know, without them i wouldn't have gotten into this.  something about cute babies makes me want to make stuff.   i'm not taking a break at all this year either, being in a new town has made me really productive.  if you need anything, let me know.

if you want something custom made for you in a different color or with something else on it, you have to let me know by tomorrow so i can get to working and get it to you (or your super-special loved ones) in time for christmas or chanukah.

1. a charlie brown christmas, vince guaraldi.  by far my favorite one EVER.   i actually listen to this one year-round, it's just that good. 
2. a christmas together, john denver and the muppets.  you tell me listening to miss piggy sing christmas carols doesn't warm the recesses of your cold dark heart.  i know it does mine.
3. a jolly christmas from frank sinatra.  if i have to explain this to you, then we are not friends.
4. time-life treasury of christmas.  no, really, i'm serious.  this has judy garland's version of "have yourself a merry little christmas" which never fails to make me get weepy.  you would think that wouldn't be a good thing, but it is.   
5. white christmas.  no christmas would be complete without bing!  and rosemary clooney, and danny kaye and vera-ellen. 

okay, now go bake some cookies or put up a tree or make fun of your neighbor's giant blow-up santa.  something festive!

i love you so much that my embroidery callous is bigger today than it was yesterday.

i made a onesie at some point, and ran into it while putting linens away.  moving is full of surprises.

this looks more red in the photo than it does in real life.  it's more of a dark coral color.

this is what my mother calls my kitchen.  if only she could see it now!  it's spotless.   having roommates has done wonders in regards to my cleanliness.

and another do the fucking dishes for your pleasure.  this is the same pretty rose color as the shit hole towel.  they would make a nice set, don't you think?
